Our research includes a wide spectrum of topics with focus on materials chemistry. Various experimental methods as well as computational chemistry are used. Most studies have a fundamental character but there are also important connections to applications.

The research is organized in three faculty programmes: inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry and structural chemistry.

The department is localized within The Ångström Laboratory together with, among others, physics, technology and other branches of chemistry. A broad competence in materials science has been created in this way. Research projects involve frequently more than one of those disciplines.
